Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, highlighting exciting upcoming releases.
This week’s Waiting on Wednesday features: They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera.
On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They’re going to die today. Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they’re both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news: There’s an app for that. It’s called the Last Friend, and through it, Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure—to live a lifetime in a single day.
Adam Silvera’s books have passed me by. I’ve heard great things about them, but they haven’t seemed to be my type of thing. However, after reading the synopsis for this book, I’m definitely intrigued! Just reading the title made me stop to find out more as it would normally be such a spoiler. I enjoy stories in which death is portrayed as a being, and can’t wait to see how this concept comes across in this book.
Just a note, from what I’ve seen on Twitter, the cover featured today is the US cover and that the author had recently seen the UK one, which suggests that we may get a different cover. The cover above is another reason why I’m so interested in the book – it looks awesome! And I love the detail of the Grim Reaper in their shadows.
