The School That Got Teens Reading

The other day, on the spur of the moment, I watched a documentary on BBC iPlayer called The School That Got Teens Reading. As you may or may not be able to tell from my blog, I absolutely love reading and also am a Teaching Assistant in a primary school, so thought I would watch this programme to see what techniques were used to get teens reading for pleasure and may be apply this at work.

I’m not gonna lie, but I was a bit disappointed by this documentary for quite a few reasons, and judging by the reaction on Twitter, I wasn’t the only one.

Bookish Ponderings: Book Conditions

Bookish Ponderings

When it comes to books, I can be a very fussy person. No, scratch that, I am a very fussy person, especially when it comes down to the condition of books.

I have taken part in five NaNo events, two of them being the main NaNo event in November, and the rest being the camps (and that’s including the first camp I participated in where I totally divebombed).

Bookish Ponderings: Bookish Conversations

Bookish Ponderings

I am a massive fan of Booklr, aka the bookish part of Tumblr. It is a really easy place to connect with others from all around the world who have a massive love for books. In the past couple of years that I have been a part of the community, I have found many great book recommendations.

And as much as its great to talk to people online and be enthusiastic about books, it’s something else to be able to find someone in real life, so to speak, who also has a great love of books.
